The Databanks
The Chair maintains, develops and makes available the ArcticStat and Nunivaat databanks. These banks were born of the realization that there was a vast corpus of valid data regarding the Arctic regions, but that this data was generally dispersed, difficult to access, or otherwise difficult to consult.
The banks are prime sources of information for the study of social and economic issues in the Arctic. They can be accessed via the Internet at no cost.
In addition, the Chair has directed, in Canada, the international study of living conditions in the Arctic. This study, SLiCA (Survey of Living Conditions in the Arctic), was carried out in five countries.
